The Shorty is our original surf shape. It’s well known for being as fun on the groomers as in the backcountry. For 2023 we updated the topsheet design and made some adjustment to the nose flex adding double alu-stringers. This dramatically decreases vibrations giving the Shorty an unprecedented calm ride on hard pack. We also shifted to PU-sidewalls for an even damper ride, and added a very much asked for wide 164, accommodating sizes up to size 12 US. This is a real riders board with its bulletproof construction and timeless design language.

OUTLINE
The Shorty features the Diamond Tail, a hook-free design combined with a longer nose for the powder performance of a bigger board – Volume Economy Tech. The result is a forgiving and playful design with plenty of performance when you need it.
BOTTOM SHAPE
We build our snowboards with camber and Tip-Tail-Rocker. We distinguish between standard camber and low camber: with low camber, the centre of the board is slightly elevated and the contact points are further towards the centre. The Shorty has 6 mm camber and is one of the easiest boards to manoeuvre in our range.
core
At Stranda Snowboards we use ash wood and a minor part poplar in our cores. Ash is perfect for building high-performance snowboards as it dampens vibrations and holds its camber, extending the life of your board. Adding poplar keeps the weight down. New for 2022 is alu-stringers and light weight paulownia in the nose for a smoother ride on groomers and in varible conditions. Choosing a premium material also allowed us to reduce the use of petroleum-based composites. We use a thin layer of bamboo as the topsheet, which adds to performance.

If you’re a woman looking for a snowboard that is equal parts chill and fast, then the Shorty is the perfect match. I got to test this board for a few weeks this season and I absolutely fell in love with it.
One of the things I loved about the Shorty is its surfy vibe. Imagine the most stylish longboard mom on Waikiki Bay, effortlessly laying down big turns and surfing through powder with ease and steeze. Don’t get me wrong, the board is fast, it just feels sooo laid back when riding it.
When I first tested it, I mounted my bindings centered but quickly realised that the nose felt too long / I felt too far back. So, I mounted my bindings slightly forward, and even though it was a deep powder day, I felt way more in control and in tune with the board. The nose is insane and makes you float on anything. I don’t know if you can go over the nose even on bigger drops, so you can really play with it und put your weight on it!
Compared to the Descender, the nose on the Shorty is definitely softer, which makes it fun for nose butters but a bit less aggressive on fast descents. However, it still holds the edge perfectly even on faster bumpy sections after drops, which is insane.
For reference, I’m 1.68cm tall, 57kgs, and tested the 153 which felt like a good, fun-size for me.
Overall, if you’re looking for a cruiser that is yet charging, the Shorty is the perfect board for you. It’s versatile, fun, and perfect for all levels of riders. I highly recommend it!

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to demo this board. By my second run, I texted the rep from the chairlift saying order me this board. My first impression of this board was… how am I going so fast but feel like I am moving in slow motion. This is because of how smooth the ride is. This board floats like a dream and is effortless with surf inspired turns. I’m 5’3, 145 lbs and usually ride boards around 147. For us shorter girls don’t be afraid of the size. At first glance the long nose feels intimidating but once you realize the benefit of it you can really lean into your front foot while riding without folding the nose. Start your day off in powder and end in chunder, this board can handle it all.
