The Descender is for anyone who wants a directional freeride snowboard with enough tail to allow for switch landings and with enough power to charge big lines. This board has no speed limit and is aiming for best in class performance. Power Bumps™ at the inserts for ultimate grip and security in critical situations boost your level of confidence. The weight is kept low to allow for backcountry freestyle riding. The Descender has a light and snappy core using feather weight paulownia mixed with full length poplar and ash laminates. Thanks to the double ash stringers and dampening PU-sidewalls there is zero chatter when straight lining icy faces.

BOTTOM SHAPE
We build our snowboards with camber and Tip-Tail-Rocker. We distinguish between standard camber and low camber: with low camber, the centre of the board is slightly elevated and the contact points are further towards the centre. The Descender has an unique parabolic 5 mm camber – lifted under rear foot for extra pop and ollie power – with low tip- and tail-rocker.

At Stranda Snowboards we use ash wood and mix it with lighter types of timber as poplar and paulownia. Ash is perfect for building high-performance snowboards as it dampens vibrations and holds its camber, extending the life of your board. Adding poplar and paulownia keeps the weight down. Choosing a premium material also allowed us to reduce the use of petroleum-based composites.

Looking for the best all-rounder in the women’s snowboard category? Look no further than the Descender. I’ve been riding it for two seasons now and it can handle it all. From steep and technical descents to fluffy pillow runs to sunny side hits on the groomers, and even chill kicker days in the park, this board can do it all. The perfect blend of stiffness and softness make it both playful and poppy, and the solid construction gives me the stability and confidence I need to ride any terrain. Overall, if you’re looking for a versatile and reliable board that can handle anything you throw at it, the Descender is the perfect choice. For reference, I’m 1.68cm tall, 57kgs, and ride the solid in 148 and could definitely go a size up. I’ve tested the split in 152 which is probably a slightly better size for me but honestly no matter what your preference is if a small more playful board or bigger charger, the descender just does it all.

This snowboard is unbelievable, but believe the hype! The technology and materials is the perfect blend. Confidence inspiring is the right description. Carving steeps, snappy short turns, better pop, and I think the most clearest example is the dampness in the crud, to drive through crappy snow feels so good and the good snow feels awesome when the Descender is under foot. My go to snowboard for everything except a rail park day (though I’m sure a stronger rail park rider than me could make it fun in there!) Thanks Mats, Stranda and Edge of the World, I love this snowboard!

This is a true “all mountain” board. Riding groomers, pow, and crud…it does it all! As a person that likes to have only one board to ride, this board checks all the boxes. I have ridden this board in all conditions for two seasons now and can say without a doubt that it performs well in any condition. I am 5’4” and the 148 is perfect for my style of riding (very stoked that they came out with the 148 this year). For background, I like to ride pow, groomers, and a sprinkle of freestyle mixed in. I have the feeling of stability when I ride this board but without the added weight. This board is lighter than my kids’ boards! As someone who has dealt with double shoulder injury, not feeling like I’m going to eat it if I hit an unexpected bump is a definite bonus! I have tried many boards over the years and this one is hands down my favourite. If you’re wondering if you should try one, give it a shot, it might be your next favourite board as well.

After riding this board for almost two seasons, I can with certainty say that that the Descender is THE snowboard. Absolutely love it!
To start, the edge hold is amazing. No matter how icy it is I truly feel secure. When riding in the slopes, a wicked edge hold is the most important feature.
Speed: when going in higher speeds, the board is super stable and there’s absolutely nothing (except my own skill lol) that limits my speed.
Still, the board is very playful and has a great pop; jumping here and there is a pure joy.
Powder: Now you’re thinking: if this board is as great in the slopes and to play around with, it can’t be as great in powder. But it is! The board floats really well and there’s no need to “hang” on the tail to make it float on fluffy snow. And to turn around trees is very smooth.
To sum it up: the Descender is an all mountain board that really performs stunningly all over the mountain.
In my opinion, this is the only board you’ll ever need (unless you’re only riding park)

This board rips! The Descender quickly became my go-to board this season. Charges hard through all conditions and super fun in powder. I’m pleased at how poppy it is, while also maintaining an edge in less than stellar snow conditions! I’m a lifer!
