The Powder Chariot

Made for epic pow cycles and everyday touring

The Shorty Splitboard is a friendly, surf-inspired split with a directional shape that’s designed to deliver dream turns on the deepest days. A compact tapered tail paired with a long, rockered nose offers insane float, and a medium flex paired with a mellow sidecut makes the Shorty easy to control when you’re moving fast. A premium Ash core and Carbon stringers assure the Shorty feels calm and composed blasting through crust or variable snow.
The Shorty is designed to be ridden longer than your traditional board size. Size up 3-8 cm for best powder performance.

Performance Profile

Shape Features

Directional surf shape with a long, blunted nose and a compact diamond tail. The nose offers unreal float thanks to the catch-free tail that drops in pow and comes around quick on hardpack.

Nose rocker that starts after the front inserts for float and easy turn initiation. 6.5mm camber between the inserts for carving power, with mellow rocker in the tail to eliminate edge catch.

Core

Premium Ash core for a damp, smooth board feel in any snow condition. Poplar stringers in the center and tail, plus Paulownia stringers in the nose, reduce weight and enhance pop.

Construction

Triax fiberglass with carbon stringers for enhanced torsional stiffness and vibration dampening. Aluminum tip and tail protectors for exceptional durability.

Base

Ultra-fast Durasurf 4001 sintered base that offers supreme durability and exceptional glide in all snow conditions. High molecular weight for core-shot resistance and excellent wax absorption.

Hardware

Lightweight Phantom Herkules nose and split clips that balance supreme torsional stiffness with ease of assembly.

Topsheet / Sidewalls / Edges

Textured TPU topsheet with a matte finish. Impact-resistant polyurethane sidewalls with diamond-polished, lightly detuned steel edges. Edge angles: -1° Bottom, 88° Side

Flex Profile

Medium flex, stiffest at the center of the sidecut for unmatched edge hold and carving power. Outside the inserts, the flex gradually softens for easy turn initiation and a playful tip feel.

Sidecut

Multi-radial sidecut that offers the perfect balance between carving tight turns and drawing big lines through variable conditions with confidence.

Bought the 164 Wide Shorty BC in December 2023 and been enjoying it in the Alps ever since. I‘m glad that the board is wide enough to work with my size 12 boots. The short tail really helps for balanced weight distribution and easy turns in powder. 100 % recommended!

I got the advice to buy the shorty 164 in stead of the 159 and I have enjoyed the shorty a lot this winter and during the late season in Jotunheimen and Rondane. The first days at the lizumerhutte in Austria I had to adjust the plum bindings settings which was really easy to do out in the mountains. After that my control of the board increased rapidly after not having snowboarded for a few years. The last day of the beginner Splitboard course we went down a mountain with powder more than 60 cm deep, most of the other group members where drowning but with the shorty I was floating on the powder and felt euphoric which I had not felt in a long time. During late April, beginning of May, I was in Rondane and jotunheimen , the shorty performed excellent in the most crappy conditions but I still had the time of my life on the loftet and rondeslottet mountain. So I am looking forward to improving my skills and having the time of my life splitboarding on the shorty in the mountains.

The shorty is the all around quiver killer! My first turns on the shorty were powderful. Face shots, high speeds down in kootaney National Park in Canada, and they were amazing. I was floating in a dream for 1100m of cold canadian powder. I kept riding the shorty and really put its name as the all round quiver killer to the test. It handled a variety of different conditions from cold smoke powder to icy bed surfaces and solid surface crusts, punchy crusts and sastruggi(my favourite word for snow) which is hard wind pressed and scowered snow. It ski’s well too, which is something that is very important to me on a splitboard. When touring the nose being the bigger feature of the shape has a tendency to dip down slightly, but not as if it were heavy. It almost reacts like my ski just needing a slight nudge to get that tip into my hip for kick turns. The shorty had the opportunity to come with me on two of my dream lines close to home. I was incredibly stoked to have something so unique riding these big rockies faces. Mt whymper south east face and carnervon south east face were hard packed for most of one of the runs and I fully trusted the board to hold on. The shape maneuvered with ease in big alpine terrain and was responsive to my every need. If your looking for a board that's versatile for everything from floating epic powder or crush exposed steeps, this is the ride for you!
