A Fast Little Fish
Made for slashing pow and carving corduroy
The Makrill is a volume-shifted powder racer designed to porpoise through deep pow and draw clean lines on piste. A long, rockered nose paired with a short swallowtail keeps this nimble little fish afloat, and a progressive sidecut that gets tighter toward the tail slingshots the Makrill out of carves. Camber underfoot and Power Bumps at the inserts add edge grip on firm snow, and make the Makrill super fun to shred even when you don’t need a snorkel.
The Makrill is available in one size – 153cm. It is designed to be ridden 6-10 cm shorter than your standard freeride board and has a 276 mm waist width that fits any boot size.

Shape Features
Swallowtail fish shape with a long nose, compact tail, and Power Bumps at the inserts. The nose/tail combo offers unreal float, while the Power Bumps enhance edge grip on hard pack.
Nose rocker that starts after the front inserts for float and easy turn initiation. 6mm camber between the inserts for carving power, with mellow rocker in the tail to eliminate edge catch.

Core
Lightweight, responsive Poplar core with full-length Bamboo stringers to absorb chatter and enhance pop.
Construction
Triax fiberglass with carbon torsion rods under the core in the nose and tail for enhanced torsional stiffness and aluminum stringers above the core in the nose for vibration dampening.
Base
Ultra-fast Durasurf 4001 sintered base that offers supreme durability and exceptional glide in all snow conditions. High molecular weight for core-shot resistance and excellent wax absorption.
Resin
Premium USA-made epoxy resin formulated for long-lasting durability and a damp, smooth ride quality. Resin is zero-VOC and releases no harmful gases while curing.
Topsheet / Sidewalls / Edges
Bamboo topsheet with a gloss finish. Impact-resistant PU plastic sidewalls with diamond-polished, lightly detuned steel edges. Edge angles: -1° Bottom, 88° Side
Flex Profile
Medium flex, stiffest at the center of the sidecut for unmatched edge hold and carving power. Outside the inserts, the flex gradually softens for easy turn initiation and a playful tip feel.
Sidecut
Progressive sidecut that gets tighter toward the tail offers the perfect balance between drawing long lines and rocketing into quick carves.

This little fish of mine
The Makrill (my second Stranda board – the Biru was my first Stranda) is insanely fun in powder, but it works so well on groomers that it ended up becoming my daily driver. I rode it 14 out of 21 days last season.
I’ve met Mats, the shaper behind the board, many times, and it’s always great hearing him talk about his passion and the ideas behind the boards he creates.

I took this little rocket out for my first ride yesterday and loved it!! The conditions were not perfect, US East coast groomers with ice showing up after the morning runs. The fact that I had so much fun even in these conditions, speaks to how awesome this little ripper is. I was very impressed with the edge grip. Surfy ride with excellent carving and turning.
I have an upcoming trip out west to hit some bigger slopes and dreaming of getting my Makrill in that deep pow!

I loved the Makrill from the very first run. It feels nimble and playful, but still super supportive when things get choppy. The board wants to carve, and the edge hold on hardpack and ice is seriously impressive. Quick carves or long trench digging turns, you're all covered.
The first few days of the season I was on another board I usually like, but on those early-season icy groomers I was struggling and did not feel confident at all. On day three I switched to the Makrill and it was a night-and-day difference. The grip on ice and the confidence it gave me were on another level.
It’s quick edge to edge, snaps out of turns, and is easy to load up and pop when you’re transitioning into the next turn. It really makes you want to push it and ride more actively. And in powder, yes, it surfs.

Was lucky enough to demo one of these last winter. Had an unbelievably fun time on it. Carves extremely hard (like every other Stranda board) especially for how short it is. It had amazing float in powder, and it was super nimble in tight Colorado trees.
The most memorable thing about it was that it had this amazing springy feeling when I pushed into it during turns in soft snow. It had the slashy nimble feeling of a short fish tail board, but when you went for a hard turn and threw your weight into it, the tail provided a really nice level of support and snap that I really didn't expect for the shape. 10/10
