Cheater 200 is a limited edition version of it’s smaller brothers. It shares the same basic outline but has a revised, longer rockered nose in combination with Low Camber and Tip-Tail-Rocker. Our goal was to reinvent the big mountain snowboard adding a big dose of surfy playfulness. The result is an easy turning freeride board that even handles frontside resort riding, albeit with no speed limit. Ride it in powder and you will feel how the groundbreaking design comes in to play with perfect balance. Three layers of rubber dampening, make for a ride smooth as butter on hardpack. The nose rocker makes turning easy and creates float. Additional carbon stringers in the tail section adds longitudinal snap. A fast and maneuverable board for cruising, carving and big mountain riding.
Length: 200 Core: Ash/poplar Construction: Triax glass with carbon torsion rods Topsheet: Bamboo Profile: Low camber with Tip-Tail-Rocker. Semi swallow tail Base: 5920 Electra base
The Cheater’s blunt nose is combined with Tip-Tail-Rocker and a Semi-Swallowtail. The result is a precise feeling of control at any speed. It’s a fresh take on how to mix on-piste edge hold with off-piste playfulness. With 55 mm of setback and the short Semi-Swallowtail it naturally sinks its tail to steer in powder.
We build our snowboards with classic camber and distinguish between standard camber and low camber: Cheater has standard camber with Tip-Tail-Rocker. The camber is elevated 11mm, with the contact points slightly moved toward the snowboard’s centre for easy turning. The board feels very secure, even when carving on icy slopes.
At Stranda Snowboards we use ash wood and a minor part poplar in our cores. Ash is perfect for building high-performance snowboards as it dampens vibrations and holds its camber, extending the life of your board. Adding poplar keeps the weight down. Choosing a premium material also allowed us to reduce the use of petroleum-based composites. We use a thin layer of bamboo as the topsheet, which adds to performance.
The 200cm cheater is one is the most fun boards I have ever ridden. Bombing pow at Mach looney was so easy and I never felt sketched by the size. I can whip it edge to edge really easy even in my size 8 200lbs frame. Slow speeds on any long board takes patience but with the nose and tail rocker it’s always super easy. I usually ride a 183 but this beast blows past it in speed for sure. We just had a big pow week and this thing was great, especially later in the day bombing leftover chunder pow.
The Cheater 200 is such an incredibly fun and versatile board. It rails on edge like nothing else out there and has such nimble and playful float in powder. Thanks for making such a cool board that truly represents your “powder and groomers” t-shirt logo. Pray for snow and remember that size does matter!
